First Aid at Work - HSE certification

This statutory course qualifies the successful candidate as a ‘First Aider at Work’ under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations of 1981 and updated in 2009. It is recommended for any person with responsibility for first aid in their workplace who wants the most thorough course available. The whole course, with plenty of revision, is covered within the three days. There is lots of opportunity for questions and “hands on” practice.

First Aid Topics include ALL those within the statutory syllabus such as

bullet Role of the First Aider, including hygiene, available equipment and recording systems
bullet Safe, prompt and effective action in emergencies
bullet Care of unconscious casualties and/or seizures
bullet

Resuscitation procedures

bullet Control of bleeding and shock
bullet Treatment of choking
bullet Treatment of major and minor burns
bullet Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries
bullet Chest injuries
bullet Eye injuries
bullet Sudden poisoning
bullet Anaphylactic shock
bullet Major conditions such as heart attacks, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes
bullet Minor injuries

First Aid at Work Requalification - HSE recertification

Two days from 9.30 am – 4.30 pm or equivalent

Held at the Mayflower Training centre

For those who need to re-qualify as a First Aider in the workplace It is obligatory that students hold a current and valid First Aid at Work certificate at the commencement of the course.This course reinforces the skills and knowledge that have been learnt previously and updates on advances in techniques or changes in legislation. 

 Full time attendance on both these courses is necessary for

certification purposes.  Assessment is continuous throughout

the programme with a final, independent assessment at the

end of the course.

 

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

One day HSE approved course that has been available from October 2009

Annual Refresher

Recommended by HSE for all workplace First Aiders
