Paediatric First Aid - for child carers to meet EYFS standards

Certificated.

Twelve hours 9.30 – 4.15pm for two days or equivalent.

Held at the Mayflower Training centre or for a group on your premises.

To meet Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage requirements for age appropriate first aid training

This course relates primarily to the needs of young children but our particular course does include resuscitation of all age groups. There is lots of opportunity for questions, “hands on” practice and review of your current first aid knowledge and procedures.

Topics covered meet the EYFS syllabus and include procedures for:

Care of shocked children and babies

Care of unconscious children and babies

Resuscitation of adult, child and baby

Choking

bullet

Head injuries

bullet

Electric and anaphylactic shock

Poisoning

Chronic medical conditions eg asthma, diabetes, sickle cell anaemia

Acute medical conditions such as meningitis, febrile convulsions

bullet

Treatment of wounds and bleeding

bullet

Suspected fractures

bullet

Head, neck and back injuries

bullet

Treatment of burns and scalds

bullet

Treatment of eye injuries

bullet

Embedded objects, bites, stings etc

bullet

First Aid boxes and hygienic precautions

bullet

Recording systems and legal framework

bullet

Question and answer sessions

 

Full time attendance and ongoing demonstration of competence leads to certification.
